Getting traffic this way can be a long and hard process and sometimes, people just don’t care. After all, you’re just another blogger in the sea of bloggers writing about the same topic, so why should anyone actually pay you any mind?
To get ahead of the herd, you need to be recognized as an expert.
Someone who knows what he is talking about.
You also need experts in your field to notice you and tell others “hey, this guy knows what’s what, you should pay attention to him!” Once you get to that point, you’ll stop chasing traffic and it will start coming to you.

Quora is a Q/A site launched in 2009 where anyone can post a question about pretty much anything and get answers from experts.

You can bet that, when any of these celebrities post an answer to a question, people flock to read it.
But don’t worry, they are just a small part of Quora (there are about 1.5 million people monthly on Quora), there is still plenty of room there for you to show everyone what you know.
Here’s how to do it and promote your blog and boost blog traffic with Quora.
Create a Quora Profile
The first step in your hopefully successful Quora career will be to create a profile there.
You can do this simply by logging in from your Google, Facebook or Twitter account, or you can create an account directly if you don’t have any of these.
However, an empty profile won’t get you anywhere, so you need to add some stuff to it.
People will come here to learn more about you and if there’s nothing in your profile, that’s not a very good start. So make sure to add your headline and a short bio.
These will tell anyone looking at it what topics you’ll provide answers for so they’ll be sure to remember you for the future or even follow you to receive your answers. Of course, don’t forget to link to your blog from here and call people to visit it.
Be sure to also to also add some credentials, such as where you live, where you work, describe your experience about a topic as well as the topics you know about.
I suggest following at least five topics that are related to your blog.
You can find topics by simply typing them in the search box and Quora will offer instant suggestions based on what you type (kind of like what Google does when you type in the search box there). Once you’ve found a topic you can contribute to, click the Follow topic to the right, below your image and questions from this topic will appear in your feed, ready to be answered by you.

Of course, just having a profile is not enough to get recognized on Quora. You also need to start answering some questions. There are two strategies you can choose questions:
- Find a question that has not been answered yet, or has very few replies. These will be easier to stand out on. This is a good strategy when you’re just starting out and want people to notice you.
- Find questions which have lots of upvotes. The more upvotes a question has, the more it is viewed. Use this strategy once you’ve established yourself a little and people start to expect valuable answers from you.
Don’t hold back when providing an answer and don’t be spammy.
Folks on Quora are very quick to spot a spammer and someone who’s just there to shamelessly plug his blog. Your answers will then get downvoted and you don’t want that.
Provide valuable answers to questions.
Long answers, with images, are the best way to get noticed and get upvotes, but at the same time, don’t lose focus and stray off topic.
Make your answers personal, show your passion for a topic and don’t be afraid to be a storyteller. You are here to represent your blog or perhaps company, so make sure you’re doing that in the best way possible.
Link Your Blog Posts
Once you’ve answered a question, don’t hit that submit button just yet before adding a link to your blog. If you do, the entire effort will be in vain pretty much. After all, the whole point of it was to get more clicks and traffic to your blog.
There are two ways to add a URL to your answer.
The first is to simply call people to check out your post related to your answer if they want to know more about this and add the URL here. If you’re going to do this, do it AFTER the answer. That way, you won’t be seen as someone who is just in it to plug his blog.
The other way, and personally the one that I prefer more, is to add links to your blog posts throughout the answer.
Try to do this as seamlessly as possible, just like when you’re adding links to your regular blog posts. That way, as people read your answer and come up with a link, they will get enticed to click on it and read your post. Later you will be amazed to see Quora traffic stats and how much Quora is boosting your blog traffic for free.
